This cake is sour cream chocolate cake with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. All of the figures were made from gumpaste. The dragon that is on the cake is my second attempt as the first one was too top heavy and fell apart! I'm happy with the second attempt though :)

This cake is sour cream chocolate cake filled with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream and filled with fresh strawberry filling. 
The cake is themed for the Tour de France and includes a fondant road that wraps around the cake. 
The cake is topped with a yellow fondant jersey that reads "Le Tour de Ed" and the number 40. 
The trees are marshmallow ice cream cones piped with green buttercream and the rocks are made with fondant. The grass is more piped buttercream. I really like how this one turned out - here is hoping the road is sturdy enough to stay on the cake on the delivery! 
8/1/2013 0 Comments Star Wars Lego Cake
I was relieved after 9 months of not making cake that I still remembered how and that this cake turned out as well as it did! :) This cake was made of sour cream chocolate cake layers filled with a Cookies n' Crème Italian meringue buttercream. 
The cake board and cake tiers were covered in black fondant and wrapped with gold ribbon. The Star Wars sign was made from fondant. 
The figures are Star Wars lego, which are actually quite fun to put together. Happy Birthday Lachlan - I hope you enjoy your party and your cake! :)
