This cake was for a Halloween-themed baby shower. I love it when I get a chance to make unique cakes and this one certainly fit the bill!
The cake had a milk chocolate caramel filling. I haven't made this filling in quite awhile now but it's one of my favorite recipes! So delicious!
The cake layers were fudgy chocolate cake. It's a good cake for carving a 3D cake because it holds together quite well.
The finished cake was iced in a caramel Swiss meringue buttercream. The homemade caramel for the buttercream was a different caramel recipe than the one in the filling!
I started with sheet cakes and carved the cake into the shape of the torso...
This was one of the smoothest fondant coverings I've ever achieved! And I added a fondant bow to dress it up a little.
The baby skeleton was cut out of fondant and a purple gerbera was added on the side.
Happy Halloween everyone!
