10/25/2015 0 Comments Yoda Star Wars CakeThe theme for this cake was Star Wars and Yoda and light sabers are the birthday boy's favorites. The yoda topper is 8" high made from cereal treats covered in fondant. The fondant was textured and many shades of petal dusts applied to give him dimension. The cake was sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate Italian meringue buttercream. The cake was covered in black fondant and decorated with Star Wars fondant letters, pearl fondant stars and pearl lustre dust. Two light sabers (also made from fondant) complete this cake.
Happy Birthday Aiden!

10/25/2015 0 Comments Sports CakeFor this cake, the birthday boy wanted strawberry cake. I took my vanilla bean sour cream cake recipe and subbed out the sour cream for a high fat strawberry yogurt, subbed the vanilla bean paste for strawberry extract and added lots of diced fresh strawberries tossed in cake flour. I paired the cake with a vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. The cake topper is made from layers of fondant as are all the stars, basketballs, baseballs, hockey pucks, and the football helmet.
Happy Birthday Marcus! 10/12/2015 0 Comments Salted Caramel Pumpkin CakeWhen I saw this recipe, it looked perfect for a Thanksgiving dinner and that is exactly what I made it for. Six layers of moist pumpkin cake were iced with a salted caramel cream cheese icing and topped with the best salted caramel sauce I've ever made and candied pecans. This might not be healthy eating but it is worth every single calorie... and every mile you need to run to burn it off!
