These birthday cakes are dark chocolate cake with chocolate Italian
meringue buttercream and topped with a layer chocolate ganache. Both cakes have a bittersweet chocolate collar (design is from a chocolate transfer sheet). 
The large cake has a design piped on top that specifically requested. The large cake is being taken to the office and the smaller cake is being taken home to share with family and friends. Hope it's a great birthday!

This cake is a four layer sour cream chocolate cake filled with layers of homemade caramel and Nutella Italian meringue buttercream.
Superman is made from gumpaste with the accents painted on with food coloring.
The logo was done with gumpaste as well with the black edging done with food coloring.
The buildings and stars are fondant and the fondant on the cake board was patterned to look like cobblestone.

This was a really simple cake for me in terms of design but for my boyfriend's step dad's birthday, it couldn't be anything but carrot cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting. I used a lime plastic sheet from IKEA to place the cake on, swirled the icing like roses and added some fondant carrots to the top. Happy Birthday Ken!!
