8/29/2016 0 Comments Italian Lemon Olive Oil CakeThis cake was an Italian lemon olive oil cake with a homemade lemon curd, mascarpone filling, wild honey blueberry sauce and fresh blackberries that I made for a birthday for someone I work with. The recipe called for edible flowers but I used some leftover fondant flowers I had from a wedding cake instead that happened to be the perfect color for this cake!

This wedding cake was pistachio hot fudge marble cake with white chocolate buttercream. The design of the wedding cake was based on these napkins which were also the colors of the wedding decor. The cake had fondant dragonflies on florist wire dusted and painted with food coloring to look like the ones on the napkin. The cake was decorated with cascading fondant flowers in the pinks, purples and green colors from the napkin. I used multiple flower cutter shapes and many shades of petal dusts to add some visual interest to the cake. I'm really happy with how this one turned out and hope that the wedding is beautiful on this hot summer afternoon!

The cake is iced in buttercream that was textured and then fresh flowers were added. I especially love that they added the bouquet on the table in front of the cake - it looks so stunning! It's really uncommon for me not to be able to take photos at home of the finished cake! This is what the cake looked like when I delivered it and the fresh flowers were added on site. The color from the flowers definitely are what make it shine!
8/7/2016 0 Comments Obstacle Course CakeThis cake is a spumoni cake (pistachio and cherry cake with chocolate Italian meringue buttercream). The flames were made with pulled sugar and are by far my favorite part of this cake! I made a cargo net of black fondant climbing the front of the cake with a few Oreo crumbs under the bottom for dirt. Happy Birthday Lachlan! Hope you enjoy your cake and your party!!
