9/28/2014 0 Comments Learning Lambeth Method PipingI've wanted to work on my piping skills for awhile now. Thanks to Craftsy I was able to do a class on the Lambeth method without leaving home. The fondant bride cake topper was also something I learned in a Craftsy class. Here is a close up of the layers of piping built up on the cake. I was so happy with the results of the first cake that I did a second one. This one is a mini cake (4") but when I did the lattice work at the bottom, I was happy it wasn't any larger! I can't wait to do more piping work!

9/6/2014 0 Comments Lego CakeThis cake is layers of sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate Italian meringue buttercream. ![]() The cake board is covered in fondant to look like one giant piece of lego. ![]() The lego pieces were made from fondant. Each piece was brushed with petal dust and steamed to give them the "shine" that plastic has. The "lid" was made from one 8" round cake and one 4" round cake that was lifted slightly off the bottom tier on one side. Happy Birthday Kai! Hope you enjoy your cake!
