Superman is made from gumpaste with the accents painted on with food coloring.
The logo was done with gumpaste as well with the black edging done with food coloring.
The buildings and stars are fondant and the fondant on the cake board was patterned to look like cobblestone.
Happy Birthday Marcus! I hope you like your Superman cake!! This was a really simple cake for me in terms of design but for my boyfriend's step dad's birthday, it couldn't be anything but carrot cake with vanilla cream cheese frosting. I used a lime plastic sheet from IKEA to place the cake on, swirled the icing like roses and added some fondant carrots to the top. Happy Birthday Ken!! This cake was a sour cream chocolate cake with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. I love this little fondant pig - I think it is my absolute favorite part of this cake! Here's another cute shot of the little piglet! The little fondant sheep are cute too... The cake tiers are covered in teal fondant and then wrapped at the bottom with pieces of green fondant to look like hills. Grass was piped on with green buttercream. The fences and clouds were also piped on with buttercream and the ponds were made with blue piping gel. The lettering on the cake board was done with brown fondant with a wood grain pattern in it. I hope it was a very happy birthday for Aiden! This superhero-themed cake was sour cream chocolate cake with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. The top tier is Spiderman and covered in red fondant and the web is piped on with black buttercream. The spider was done with black fondant and the tier was finished off with a black buttercream bead border. The middle tier is Batman and covered in a charcoal-covered fondant. The logo was made with fondant. A black "cape" of black fondant was draped over the side of the cake and a yellow buttercream bead border was piped around the bottom of the tier. The bottom tier is Superman and the tier was covered in blue fondant. The logo was made with fondant. The border was piped with red buttercream. A "cape" of red fondant was draped on the side of the tier. The cake board was covered in a cobblestone fondant and fondant lettering was added. Happy Birthday Kai! I hope you like your superhero cake! This cake was a sour cream chocolate cake with chocolate mousse buttercream. The icing recipe involves making a chocolate mousse from scratch and then whipping in butter to form the icing. It is delicious and I will definitely be making it again! The most challenging part of this cake was making Luigi out of gumpaste coming out of a warp tube. I got to look at pictures of Mario and Luigi cakes with the birthday boy so I made this cake based on what he liked. His favorite element in any of the cakes was definitely the bomb so I made a big bomb for the top of the cake out of rice cereal treats. The cake was finished off with a variety of Mario-themed fondant decorations. Happy Birthday Lachlan!! I hope you like your cake! It's not very often anymore that I bake only for taste so this was fun for me to make these cupcakes without worrying about any sort of decoration. This is a vanilla bean sour cream cupcake with caramel Italian meringue buttercream drizzled with caramel sauce. This is a chocolate cupcake with chocolate Italian meringue buttercream. I actually think the caramel buttercream went better with the chocolate cake but these were yummy nonetheless! :) This "Ice Cream Cone Cake" is four layers of white cake filled with a Cookies n' Creme custard buttercream iced in a vanilla custard buttercream. The cake is surrounded with ice cream cones which have cake batter baked inside of them. Each ice cream cone was topped with a swirl of chocolate custard buttercream or vanilla custard buttercream to look like soft-serve ice cream. The top of the cake was covered with a ring of sprinkles to finish the look. This recipe is absolutely delicious and I will definitely be making it again, especially the custard buttercream!! This wedding cake was a carrot cake with vanilla cream cheese icing. The bride chose the topper and let me decide the design for the three tiers of the cake underneath it! I think this topper is so gorgeous! The bottom tier was skirted with fondant and dusted with pearl lustre dust. The middle and top tiers are decorated with pearl dusted fondant embroidery. Carrot cake doesn't stack the best and even with supports in each tier, it started to lean towards the back. I hope the bride is happy with my choice of designs and that it is a beautiful wedding for the happy couple! This is by far the largest wedding cake I have done to date! The base is 18" square and the tiers are 6", 10" and 14" for about 140 guests. It weighs about 65 lbs as well!Edit All three tiers are vanilla bean sour cream cake filled with raspberry preserves and filled and iced with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. Yum! The couple requested that the groom's family crest be added somewhere on the cake. I made it out of gumpaste except the surname which was written on with edible marker. The tiers were covered with fondant and wrapped with black satin ribbon. Gumpaste rings in the wedding colors of blue and black are arranged in a cascade down the front of the cake. Congratulations to the happy couple - I hope it is a beautiful wedding! |
