6/18/2011 0 Comments Baby Girl Shower CakeThis cake is vanilla bean sour cream cake filled and iced with a vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. I tried out a new fondant - McCalls EasyIce White Chocolate fondant - on this cake. I recently took a course with Andrea Sullivan and it is the fondant she uses and it tasted good and looked much easier to work with so I decided to try it out! There is a definite learning curve to working with a different type of fondant but after a few tries, it worked out well I think! The cake board is covered in a pale pink fondant (although it definitely looks white in the pictures!). The baby carriage on the plaque on top of the cake is made from fondant with the exception of the detailing on the wheels which was painted on with food coloring. The polka dots and bow are also made with fondant. Congratulations to the mom-to-be! I hope it's a great baby shower.
