This cake was vanilla bean cake layers filled and iced with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream covered in fondant. I experimented with the recipe this time though as I've found my vanilla cake tasted like plain white cake and this time I did get a yummy cake that tasted like vanilla! The toadstools were made with rice cereal treats covered in fondant and brushed with lustre dusts. The fairy and flowers were made with gumpaste and the lettering was done with pale blue fondant. The white "grass" was piped on with vanilla bean buttercream. The birthday girl's reaction to this cake this morning is why I make cake and it is so awesome to see a little girl so excited! Now after doing 4 cakes in the last week plus working full-time, I'm going to go take a much needed break!
