6/2/2012 5 Comments Modern Wedding CakeThis is by far the largest wedding cake I have done to date! The base is 18" square and the tiers are 6", 10" and 14" for about 140 guests. It weighs about 65 lbs as well!Edit All three tiers are vanilla bean sour cream cake filled with raspberry preserves and filled and iced with vanilla bean Italian meringue buttercream. Yum! The couple requested that the groom's family crest be added somewhere on the cake. I made it out of gumpaste except the surname which was written on with edible marker. The tiers were covered with fondant and wrapped with black satin ribbon. Gumpaste rings in the wedding colors of blue and black are arranged in a cascade down the front of the cake.
Congratulations to the happy couple - I hope it is a beautiful wedding!

The wedding was lovely. The weather cooperated and the cake tasted every bit as good as it looked

Well done. Very impressive cake. Attention to detail with the family crest most inventive. Think you may just have to give up your day job soon. Take care.

Marriages are planned in heavens and celebrated on earth. A person only gets married once in his lifetime and he would obviously want to make sure that everything works out perfectly. When it comes to wedding preparations, even the most minute details needs to be taken care of properly so that nothing goes wrong on the grand day.
