I was really excited to try a vertical layer cake for the first time! It's fun to watch people's reactions when they slice into it since it looks different than is expected!
It was also the first time I have baked with (or tasted) elderflower and I really liked it! This was a vanilla sponge cake soaked in an elderflower syrup with a blackberry Swiss meringue buttercream made to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend.
