1/24/2011 0 Comments Shoe Box CakeThis cake was a sour cream chocolate cake filled and iced with a mocha Italian meringue buttercream. The cake layers were soaked with a Kahlua sugar syrup and the cake was covered in fondant in a variety of colors in order to make it look like a shoe box. The cake board was covered in white fondant and textured with imprints of flowers and vines. The lettering was done with purple fondant as was the clutch handbag, which also had a silver fondant rope strap. The cake was topped with two gumpaste and fondant shoes (above) that were inspired by a GORGEOUS pair of Christian Louboutin shoes (pictured below). The shoes were by far my favorite element of this cake. I love these shoes and if they weren't $1000, I think I would buy them.... not sure where I'd wear them, but I'd buy them anyways! A chain of fondant pearls and two gumpaste flowers added the finishing touches to this cake. I hope it was a very happy birthday!
